Nondestructive testing(NDT) is used in inspecting, testing, or evaluating materials, components or assemblies for discontinuities, or differences in characteristics without destroying the pipes, fittings or flanges products. It means the products can still be used when the inspection or testing is completed. In contrast to NDT, other tests are destructive in nature and only can be used in some samples which will not be used as finished products in project.
These destructive tests are often used to calculate the physical properties of materials such as impact resistance, ductility, yield and ultimate tensile strength, fracture toughness and fatigue strength.
